Barbara A. Lewis

  1. Telling the truth lets everyone know what really happened. There's less chance of misunderstanding, confusion, or conflict.
  2. Telling the truth protects innocent people from being blamed or punished.
  3. Telling the truth allows everyone to learn from what happened.
  4. You usually get into less trouble for telling the truth other than for lying (and getting caught).
  5. Other people trust you more when you tell the truth.
  6. You don't have to tell (and remember) more lies to keep your story straight.
  7. You gain a reputation for being truthful - a trait most people value.
  8. Telling the truth helps you feel secure and peaceful inside.

Reflection:

I believe these eight reasons are great reasons to never lie. My favorite reason is the one that says that if you don't lie you protect the innocent for taking any blame or punishment. For example if you are at home and you break your mom's favorite base and you lie to her by making up an elaborate lie on how your brother did it, then an Innocent person will have to take the punishment. It bothers me so much when I see someone innocent get in trouble because of someone's lies. Another one is telling the truth makes you feel good. If you constantly lie then you will feel bad because you know that your actions affect others. If you tell the truth you never have to make up other lies to cover others. And overall people appreciate someone who is honest since it's the right thing to do.

Daily Student Success Statement  "True Independence and freedom can only exist in doing what's right."  - Brigham Young  Reflection:  I agree with this quote because true independence and freedom can only exist  in doing what's right. So do what's right because it's important to be independent and live freely once you start choosing the right. Like Brigham Young University students don't use bad language, they don't drink alcohol, and caffeine which includes coffee and soda which is so sad. But they resist temptations anyway. SO choose the right.

Daily Student Success Statement

"The most important thing you will ever have is good values." -Dennis Prager Reflection:  I agree with the fact that having good values should be everyone's priority. The first thing that should come to people's mind when they think of something that should be a top priority, is good values. Many people may think that money, health, happiness, or love are more important, but they are not. Although it's better to have money than to not, it still isn't as important as having good morals. Health is good because it keeps you alive, but having health and no good values is not a really good thing. Happiness and love are good but without good values you probably won't receive any of it. So know that although the other options seem better, they are actually not. It is better to be nice, honest, loyal and helpful than rich and healthy but mean and selfish. So like Dennis Prager said without good values, money, happiness, and love are not that good.
