Student Success Statement

Student Success Statement "A man without a goal is like a ship without a rudder."        -Thomas Carlyle Reflection: I agree with this student success statement. If you have no goals then you are not going to go anywhere in life. Like a ship if you don't have something to help you go the right way, then you will get lost. You need to have guidance and a goal to achieve  and to get to. If you stand there waiting like a ship for something to happen, then most likely it is something you do not want to happen or simply you did not get what you were hoping for. If you stand there like a ship without a rudder the wind will take you a way in which you did not want to go; it might lead you to jail, poverty , drugs, and other bad things. Although the wind might not always take you to a bad place, chances of getting  where you want increase when you set goals for yourself. By setting goals for yourself you are building your desirable  future. The...

Student Success Statement "When you want to give up, remember that a house isn't build in a day. Like building a house, achieving a goal takes a plan, hard work, and time." -Alfredo Torres Reflection: What this means is that when you feel down, and you feel like doing something is hard, remember that it takes time. I know it may seem hard but knowing that putting all of your effort into it is good thing. The more time and dedication you put into something the better the result will be. At times you might feel like you are nowhere close to accomplishing your goal, but remember patience is key. Getting good at something is like building a house; It just doesn't happen in a day, you need a layout, materials, handwork, and patience. For example if you need to memorize a dance routine but you don't remember how it goes and you feel like you'll fail then practice and if you put enough effort you will get it.

Daily Student Success Statement  "When a deep injury is done us, we never recover until we forgive." -Alan Paton Reflection: I agree with the statement by Alan Paton. If someone does something for you, you must forgive. Forgiveness doesn't have to start right away, but it has to start somehow. If you don't forgive you'll grow old and you'll still be filled with hate for someone. Instead you should have forgiveness and enjoy a good life with no hatred . For example let's say your neighbor crashed into your car, you should forgive them eventually. Sure, at first you might be mad for what they did to your car and how much it will cost you, but eventually you should forgive them. What good does being filled with hate and not forgiving someone bring you. Instead of being bitter and mad at people, you should be happy knowing you gave them a  second chance and maybe even changed their life.

Student Success Statement  Eight Great Reasons to Tell the Truth Barbara A. Lewis Telling the truth lets everyone know what really happened. There's less chance of misunderstanding, confusion, or conflict. Telling the truth protects innocent people from being blamed or punished. Telling the truth allows everyone to learn from what happened. You usually get into less trouble for telling the truth other than for lying (and getting caught).  Other people trust you more when you tell the truth. You don't have to tell (and remember) more lies to keep your story straight. You gain a reputation for being truthful - a trait most people value. Telling the truth helps you feel secure and peaceful inside.  Reflection: I believe these eight reasons are great reasons to never lie. My favorite reason is the one that says that if you don't lie you protect the innocent for taking any blame or punishment. For example if you are at home and you break your m...

Daily Student Success Statement  "Dare to stand alone. Stand up for what is right, even if you stand alone." -Thomas S. Monson  Reflection: I agree with this student success statement by Thomas S. Monson. It is much better to stand alone than stand with others by choosing the wrong. If you choose the right you might feel a bit lonely at time but it is the right thing to do, no matter what. If someone invites you to got o a party and drink and do drugs and somebody else invites you to go volunteer at a hospital and then go watch a movie, then the option is clear. You should go volunteer and watch a movie. Although all the popular people are going to that party, they will be choosing the wrong so you shouldn't go. But in the other hand if you go with your close friends to volunteer at a hospital and help those in need you will be choosing the wrong and afterwards you guys can watch a movie that does not involve choosing the wrong. That is why this student success...

Student Success Statement  "I would prefer even to fail with honor than win by cheating." - Sophocles Reflection: This is a very good student success statement, one of my favorites in fact. This is because this student success statement applies to absolutely everyone. It says that it's better to lose with honer, which is true. So it says that loosing is not bad when you didn't cheat. Although you may feel sad by the fact that you didn't win but you will then realize that the biggest reward is choosing the right. The other half of the student success statement says that winning by cheating is bad, which is true. So in other words this says that even if you win by cheating, you really failed. So by cheating it may look as if you won to everyone else, but in the inside you will feel guilt. So it is better to lose and not cheat than cheat and actually win.

Student Success Statement  "If I've got correct goals, and if I keep pursuing them the best way I know how, everything else falls into line. If I do the right thing right, I'm going to succeed." -Dan Dierdorf  Reflection: This is a pretty good student success statement because it's so true. If you don't do anything bad or wrong then mostly good things will happen to you. If you try your best and keep practicing, you will succeed. So as long as you do what's right and try your best you will have a good outcome. For example if this person is trying out for a sport and he's good at it but is very disrespectful towards everyone, it is very probable he won't make it. If there is someone who is very nice and respectful towards everyone but they don't practice at all then chances are they won't make the team. But if there is someone who is respectful, chooses the right all the time, and practices a lot they are most likely to make it. I...

Daily Student Success Statement

"The most important thing you will ever have is good values." -Dennis Prager Reflection:  I agree with the fact that having good values should be everyone's priority. The first thing that should come to people's mind when they think of something that should be a top priority, is good values. Many people may think that money, health, happiness, or love are more important, but they are not. Although it's better to have money than to not, it still isn't as important as having good morals. Health is good because it keeps you alive, but having health and no good values is not a really good thing. Happiness and love are good but without good values you probably won't receive any of it. So know that although the other options seem better, they are actually not. It is better to be nice, honest, loyal and helpful than rich and healthy but mean and selfish. So like Dennis Prager said without good values, money, happiness, and love are not that good.

Student Success Statement  "The reward for doing right is mostly an internal phenomenon: self-respect. dignity (self-worth), integrity, and self-esteem." -Dr. Laura Schlesinger Reflection: This student success statement is about the internal feeling of choosing the right. What this quote means is that the reward for choosing the right is inside of us. This is important because it shows us that although most of the time we won't get a reward such as money or recognition, we will always get an award for ourselves. We will feel pride when we chose the right,  that is the reward for our good deeds. That means that we should no expect something in return after choosing the right thing to do, as it is simply the way everyone should live their life. Our rewards for choosing the right is self-respect, dignity, and integrity. Self-respect because you can feel the respect for yourself as you would for someone else choosing the right. Dignity, because you can hold your he...
