Summary:

The flu is an illness that causes symptoms that range from mild to severe in how much pain it causes, it can even cause the death of some.  The Center for Disease Control and Prevention said that there were around 14,400 laboratory-confirmed cases of the flu as of January 13, meaning that this season there is a total of around 74,560 cases of the flu. The week of January 7 to January 13 came with 10 deaths among kids caused by the flu. The CDC estimates that during the same week, 8.2% of deaths for adults were caused by pneumonia and influenza-related deaths, which is a higher percentage than normal for this time of the year. The same week for every 200,000 people 70 were hospitalized, compared to the 45 out of 200,000 people hospitalized the previous week.

Who was involved?

This flu widespread affected all states in The United States, except for the state of Hawaii with normal percentage of flu cases. This outbreak is affecting people from all ages, but is mostly affecting children (10 deaths were children's) and elderly people. The CDC is working on how to decrease the numbers of flu cases.

What is being done about it?

The CDC is conducting more research to stop this from becoming more severe and dangerous. They recommend for people who haven't been vaccinated to get their vaccines as soon as possible, while they try to come up with solutions to this nation wide problem.

Reflection:

Although it hasn't affected me directly, this issue is very important. This can affect anyone at any moment and it's scary. Since it is affecting people from all ages, and occurring in most states including California this is something that worries me, and there should be more awareness towards this topic.

Daily Student Success Statement  "True Independence and freedom can only exist in doing what's right."  - Brigham Young  Reflection:  I agree with this quote because true independence and freedom can only exist  in doing what's right. So do what's right because it's important to be independent and live freely once you start choosing the right. Like Brigham Young University students don't use bad language, they don't drink alcohol, and caffeine which includes coffee and soda which is so sad. But they resist temptations anyway. SO choose the right.

Student Success Statement  Eight Great Reasons to Tell the Truth Barbara A. Lewis Telling the truth lets everyone know what really happened. There's less chance of misunderstanding, confusion, or conflict. Telling the truth protects innocent people from being blamed or punished. Telling the truth allows everyone to learn from what happened. You usually get into less trouble for telling the truth other than for lying (and getting caught).  Other people trust you more when you tell the truth. You don't have to tell (and remember) more lies to keep your story straight. You gain a reputation for being truthful - a trait most people value. Telling the truth helps you feel secure and peaceful inside.  Reflection: I believe these eight reasons are great reasons to never lie. My favorite reason is the one that says that if you don't lie you protect the innocent for taking any blame or punishment. For example if you are at home and you break your m...
