Memorial Day

Memorial Day

What is Memorial Day?

It is a day on which those who died in active military service are remembered for their hard work, and their contribution of this country's citizens' well being.

When is Memorial Day each year?

This holiday is celebrated every year on the last Monday of May, making this year's  Memorial Day on Monday 28, 2018.

What are some ways to show honor and respect on memorial day?

Many people honor those who died serving the country by visiting their cemeteries and memorials. Many volunteers place an American flag on each grave in national cemeteries.

What are a few things you will do on Memorial Day to show honor and respect?

Can try to go to a parade in a local area to pay tribute to those who have sacrificed their life for us. Also take a moment to acknowledge their work and not just ignore it.

Facts:

  • It started with the civil war
  • Was first known as decoration day
  • It has it's own customs
  • Not even unidentified people go unnoticed

Reflection:

I think it is a day that is necessary to celebrate in our country, We honor those who died protecting us from harm. It is good to have a holiday to remember those who helped us but cannot be here with us. That;s why it is important to learn more about this holiday, to get more involved. That's why instead of going home and not doing anything that day, as if it were an ordinary day, do something to honor them. Go to a parade, a cemetery, a barbecue, but do something to honor them. After all where would we be without them?

Daily Student Success Statment

"Right is right only when entire."  - Victor Hugo Reflection: I agree with this student success statement. I agree with it because it tells you that the only way to be right is to be 100% right, nothing less than that. If you cheat  in a test, no matter if it is only one question, what you are doing  it's completely wrong. No matter what you are doing it should be completely right. Not 1% or even 99% right it should always be 100% right, if not it's ll wrong. That is what the quote is trying to explain.

Class Evaluation 2

Class Evaluation Something that I liked about this class was how we learned about the importance about doing the right thing. I also enjoyed how this class helped improve my typing skills as I am now a much better typer than I was before. I also liked the little projects we did on the side such as the google sites and the choose the right project. I think there should be more of those projects. I also enjoyed learning  about new careers to pursue. I was also intrigued  by the coding activities, although we did not spend much time on those. Somethings I don't like it's that there were times we didn't use the computers as much. I enjoyed  learning  about choosing the right, but I would have rather limited the aspect of learning about choosing the right and increasing our  computer  time instead. I also don't completely agree with  the grading  system, as forgetting your journal can bring you down an  entire  grade. I think it shoul...

Daily Student Success Statement

"I wasn't trying to leave a legacy. I was trying to do what was right." -Dean Smith  Reflection:  What I believe this quote means is that you shouldn't do something just so people can like you, you should do it because it's the right thing to do. Instead of doing things for attention you should do it for your own good. Don't try to please others, and do what's right.  For example say you saw someone throw trash on the floor, you should do it because you are trying to do what's right, instead of let's say only doing it because there were a lot of people watching you and thinking good things about you. Try to remember that someday people will forget what you did and not remember any of your past actions, but even if they forget what you did the change you made to help the world will always be there. Popularity won't last forever, but everything you have done to help your environment, community, or peers will remain there fo...
